What are the Different Types of Audio Books?

Just like traditional books, audio books also have their types. There are dramatized, abridged and unabridged books. These types of books would differ on many things.

Dramatized audio books are the books that would be grand in effects and sounds. This kind of audio books is considered to be dramatic considering that the story of the book itself is narrated and the characters have their own voices. The sounds are also emphasized and the effects are realistic. Imagine listening to radio dramas to the full extent, that it what dramatized audio books are.

The abridged audio book is more like a shortened version of a specific book which is arranged and made so as the story would be shortened and summarized. Compared to the dramatized and the unabridged, this type of audio book is considered to be the shortest and more concise one. If you want to simply know the gist of the story then you could listen to this.

Unabridged audio book on the other hand is that which is read word for word from the book itself. It is the full story of the book and nothing is omitted from it. There are also no effects or sounds. This type of audio book is simply the narrated version of the book.  

What are the Things You Need to Use Audio Books?

Since audio books are primarily being listened to rather than being visually read, you should be able to make use of audio books also through the help of some gadgets offering such features.

If you bought some cassette tapes or CDs from the bookstore then you would need the corresponding gadgets which could run the tapes or the CDs. It is however a different thing if you download it from the internet. It would be a lot easier and more convenient.

From your computer, you could simply play the downloaded audio book from there and listen to it. If you want, you could also transfer it from your computer to your MP3 or iPod. It would depend on you where and what you are more comfortable in using. You could use a radio, CD player, computer, MP3 and even iPod to listen to the audio book.  

Why should you Use Audio Books?

Audio books are very much suitable for the visual type of people. One advantage that audio books could provide is the fact that they would be a big help in helping your eyes rest. In the times when you want to read but your eyes are simply too much irritated, an audio book is the solution.

Using audio books is way better because of two things; first: it is portable and convenient, and second: it is easy to access and to look for. They are portable since you could place them in your MP3 or iPod and go wherever you want having that audio book in your MP3 and without having to add some weight to your bag. They are also easily acquired given that you could simply download it form the internet. You don’t have to search for a specific book for hundreds of bookshelves since you could simply search for it online and download it.
